Senior BMS/EPMS Engineer (Data Centre)
Seeking a Senior BMS/EPMS Engineer experienced in the consultancy, design and construction of Data Centre and Mission Critical Facilities to become part of our Controls team.
About the job:
As our Senior BMS / EPMS Engineer you will have a demonstrable knowledge of HVAC control applications, building management systems and electrical power management systems. Experienced in consultancy, design and construction of data centre and mission critical facilities, working within our Controls team. It will be your responsibility to lead workgroups made up of representatives from the client and other key stakeholder teams. You will be detail-oriented, possess strong organisational skills and be a self-starter. These qualities will go hand in hand with your background in all aspects of building automation & power monitoring. In addition, thoroughly understand mechanical systems, electrical power distribution and networking associated with BMS / EPMS systems.
About you:
This role offers a hybrid remote arrangement in Ireland, requiring attendance at the Dublin office 3x per week.
Degree in building services/electrical/mechanical engineering, electrical & electronics engineering
8+ years’ experience working in data centre, industrial, high-tech or mission critical environments.
In-depth knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Branch Circuit Monitoring Systems (BCMS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Building Automation Systems (BAS), and Building Management Systems (BMS)
Technical understanding of mission-critical environments
In-depth knowledge of open BAS protocols and communications - BACnet, LON, MODBUS, Ethernet, Web-Services, and HTML
Strong experience with the operation and maintenance of building cooling and related mechanical systems (HVAC, Chilled Water, DX Refrigerant, Evaporative, and related control systems)
In-depth knowledge of server platforms, virtualisation theories and concepts, database design and engineering, data management and disaster recovery/planning/risk assessment
Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and documents is essential
Knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems/schematics
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Extensive experience and ability to work on Design & Build (D&B) and Design Bid Build (DBB) projects
Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and documents is essential
Your day-to-day activities:
Lead new project control engineering design, quality approval, process control, product evaluation, vendor proposals, evaluation of product reliability, automated testing, software, research and development
Lead your team in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data centre environments
Manage both internal and external vendors and consultants, ensuring objectives are achieved for outsourced project elements
Control system strategies, design, specifications and the preparation of drawings
Monitor and ensure project milestones are met on schedule to ensure on-time project delivery
Work simultaneously on multiple projects, in a team or independently with little to no oversight
Work closely with clients and subcontractors to provide support and technical guidance in BMS/EPMS design
